The Dark Knight Rises

The end of Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's Batman trilogy is here. It's always difficult to write up a review immediately after watching a film, especially after a midnight showing. With a movie like this, you'll walk away with a heavy feeling in the pit of your stomach. I've thought about it for a bit before pouring out my words. What it comes down to is I liked the movie...a lot.

I have to admit, I didn't have the absolute highest hopes for this movie. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the previous two films. I even watched them both back-to-back before hitting the midnight showing. This is a Christopher Nolan film. It's supposed to be great, right? It's that sort of pretentious attitude many have that sometimes puts a damper on my outlook. There's the subtle pressure that you're just supposed to like it before even getting to the theater. Despite all my skepticism, I did get sucked into the film.

It should be noted that watching all three within the same period really makes you appreciate what Nolan has done. You see how this truly is a trilogy. You can see how it all fits together. There were some connections between the first two but I never got a huge sense how closely they were tied.

I love Christian Bale as an actor but I can't say he was ever my favorite part in any of the films. In the previous two, there was always another actor that shined more than he did. That's the case here as well. Bale does do a great job though as a broken man. This isn't the "Batman beats everyone" that we know from the comics. He starts out broken and the fact that the film takes place eight years after The Dark Knight, adds to the heavy and dreary vibe taking place.

Spring is Blooming

It must me getting to that time of year. The evenings are getting lighter, the leaves are becoming greener and the breeze is getting just a little less bitter, which means Spring is just around the corner and it’s time to put away our faux furs (I know it can be hard) and revamp our wardrobes with the latest trends.

Fashions florists have been working hard all winter to bring you the best of my favorite trend this season. When I think of Summer I think of flowers, the word is synonymous with the season and just like the sunshine the colours can just cheer me up, which is why it’s pretty petals and blooming buds that will be bursting my closet boundaries in the upcoming months.

Springs hyper floral’s are a mixed bouquet so don’t be afraid to experiment with different prints as well as mixing and matching of patterns and textures.

Anne Hathaway: Selina Kyle Catwoman Pic For 'The Dark Knight Rises'

Having already introduced Tom Hardy as Bane to the world with that creepy over the shoulder shot back in May, Christopher Nolan and the team behind his third and final epic Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises," have secretly revealed another first look at a new star.

Found in the official website, here is the first image of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, the alter-ego of the famous Catwoman. Hathaway, to say the least, looks much different than past Catwoman actresses, with the glasses, lack of any ears or mask and gigantic powerwheels motorbike setting her apart from Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.

This is the latest release from the film, though the previous ones weren't exactly approved; paparazzi shots got clear images of the new Batmobile, as well as some epic fight scenes between the Dark Knight and Bane.

Supermodels emerged in the middle of the twentieth century and quickly rose to prominence as spokespeople for worldwide products. Elevated by a public desire to know more about the faces who regularly stare out from the pages of magazines, Supermodels became celebrities whose name value and brand awareness often overshadowed that of the products they represented.

The sixties – Leave it to the advertising obsessed age of the sixties to turn objects of advertising into celebrities. In 1968 an article in Glamour magazine profiled the 15 most featured models of the time and called them Supermodels. It was hardly an exaggeration since the models on that list, Twiggy, Cheryl Tiegs, and Wilhelmina Cooper, had appeared in dozens of the decades most iconic imagery that helped define the era for millions of Americans.

DANIELLE BOUNDS - Miss Earth United States 2010
By David Natanawan for Critical Beauty

Please tell us something about yourself, your full name, age, height, vital stats, where you came from, educational information, your interests and hobbies and other important facts about yourself.

My name is Danielle Bounds and I am Miss Earth United States 2010. I am 26 years old, 6 feet tall, and from Kansas City, Missouri. I love to travel, workout, play with my pets, pageantry, and ironically my birthday is Earth Day, April 22nd!

Who influenced you to join your country’s national pageant prior to winning the title to represent your country at Miss Earth, and how did this influence come about?

I came across the pageant on the Internet. The Miss Earth system caught my eye in particular because it seemed they were very passionate about their cause. This cause, preserving & protecting the environment, was also something very important to me as an individual because greener living is something we all need to be more aware of for our future generations. So it seemed to be a perfect fit for me to compete in my national pageant.

New Diaries Offer Intimate Glimpse Into the Private Life of Marilyn Monroe
By John Mitchell  Posted Oct 7th 2010 04:00PM

Some individuals are so iconic, their fame so omnipresent and overwhelming, that we assume we know all there is to know about them. With the exception of her tragic passing and the mystery and fascination that continue to surround it, Marilyn Monroe was one such celebrity. From her birth as Norma Jeane Baker and her famed serenade of President John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday to the countless biographies and films that have been made about her life since her passing, Marilyn Monroe is a star as familiar to audiences today as she was to those who lined up to see her shine in 'The Seven Year Itch.'

But with the publication of never-before-seen diaries, letters and poems, a whole new Marilyn is about to be revealed, and she is far removed from the bubbly-but-troubled dumb blonde we thought we knew. Instead, a surprisingly intelligent, cultured woman consumed by both profound sadness and optimism steps into the spotlight in 'Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters by Marilyn Monroe.'

Nubia Rose-Model, Actress & Entrepreneur

Discovered at the tender age of 17 in Rio deJaneiro by Helio Kaltman. Nubia was featured in musical videos with Martinho Da Vila for Rede Globo TV. She has worked with Brazilian greats like comedian Renato Aragao, Rita Furtado and Alberto Brizola where she was "the Motor Bike Girl", among others.

In 1988 Nubia fell in love with a man from America and found herself moving to Kenosha, Wisconsin; but it was extremely cold so they decided to move to the beautiful sunny Florida. Nubia and her husband were married in Brazil, stayed there for ten years and decided to come back home to the states.

The artistic vein was still throbbing; Nubia went on casting calls for several commercials, was hired by a modeling agency and made more commercials. Time went by, her career flourished but the marriage ended.

She's never been out of the limelight, last year Nubia got the chance to act and did so in the Transporter 2, a small part but she met and acted side actor Matthew Modine.

Nubia is also a very savvy entrepreneur with her own magazine and several other projects in the works. Nubia loves Franovik Designs and constantly wears our pieces. Visit Nubia's websites, www.nubiarose.com and www.nubiarosemag.com.
Legend Vega-Latina Pop Artist

Legend Vega is scheduled to release her newest CD this summer, Personal Space. Fans characterize Legend's style as a cross between Mariah Carey and a female version of Ricky Martin. She was born under the lights of Broadway in New York City but raised to the beat of Salsa and Merengue on the hot sands of Puerto Rico.

Legend Vega is an experienced singer, songwriter, and model. She has just finished recording her newest CD with all of her own material. Her mainstream pop style and her Latin background make her an excellent crossover artist for the U.S. market. Her album features a broad mix of pop music recorded in English but with many Latin influences.
